1962 Philippine Orchids

On March 9., 1961, he Bureau of Posts issued a se-tenant set of four colourful stamps (perf. and imperf.) featuring Philippine orchids.

1962 Anti-TB Surcharge and Special Delivery

Two stamps were issued on January 23 to start the 1962 philatelic year. The first was a surcharged stamp of the 1958 Quezon Anti-TB semi-postal. The new denomination was expressed in sentimos, the filipino spelling of centavos. The second stamp was a 20c special delivery stamp replacing the 1947 issue.

1961 Jose Rizal Birth Centennial II

In December, 1896, a Spanish court-martial found Jose  Rizal  guilty of rebellion, sedition and conspiracy, sentencing him to death. On December 30, 1896 Rizal was executed  by a squad of Filipino soldiers of the Spanish Army.

The Bureau of Posts issued a commemorative stamp on December 30, 1961, whose design was based on the above photograph.

1961 Macapagal - Pelaez Inauguration


Diosdado Macapagal , fifth president of the 3rd Republic, was inaugurated on December 30, 1961. To mark the occasion, the Bureau of Posts issued an overprinted stamp.

The Philippine Government Employees' Association was honoured with a set of stamps issued on December 9, 1961.
