1950 Bureau of Forestry 50th Anniversary


 The first forestry service in the Philippines, the "Inspeccion General de Montes", was created in June 1862 pursuant to a Spanish Royal Decree. On April 14, 1900, the U.S. military governor in the Philippines isued General Order No. 50, renaming "Inspeccion" into the Bureau of Forestry.

The Bureau of Posts issued a set of two stamps commemorating the Bureau of Forestry on its 50th anniversary, April 14, 1950. Featured on the stamps is an engraving of the native Red Lauan tree, a valuable export timber.

1950 4th Anniversary of the Republic of the Philippines


On July 4, 1950, the Bureau of Posts issued three commemorative stamps to mark the 4th anniversary of the Philippine Republic. Pictured on the stamps is President Elpidio Quirino shown taking the oath of office on December 30, 1949.

1950 1st District Lions Convention


The first District Lion's International Convention held in the Philippines was the subject of a set of four stamps (2 ordinary and 2 air mail)  and an air mail souvenir sheet issued by the Bureau of Posts on June 2, 1950.

1947 Postage Dues

The Bureau of Posts issued a set of four postage due stamps on October 27, 1947. A "first day of issue" cancellation was made available for the release.

1950 Junior Chamber International World Congress



Junior Chamber International (JCI) is an American-based service organization. The 5th Junior Chamber International Congress was  held in Manila from March 1-8, 1950. The Bureau of Posts issued two sets of stamps, ordinary and airmail, to commemorate the event. The air mail and ordinary sets were released on March 1, 1950 and March 3 1950, respectively.
